Welcome back to This Week In Lincoln. This is my round-up of local events which goes out every Thursday at 11 am (ish).
You can find the calendar below! There's a ton of stuff happening this weekend, next week and later in the year. I know I say that every week but it's especially true this time.
Here's a few other things to know first:
- The protest in support of folks locked up in the McCook Detention Center is happening this Saturday!
If you need a ride, it sounds likethere are still a few spots lefton the bus that's going to McCook.(Update: At some point between when I wrote this late Wednesday night and this morning, bus registration closed. Sorry!) It's nearly a four-hour drive from Lincoln so I do recommend carpooling at the very least. Expect speakers, music, poetry and more. Right now, it looks like there's a chance of thunderstorms that day so plan accordingly. Find more details here. - The ACLU and Voto Latino are collaborating for a Know Your Voting Rights Training at 7 pm on Tuesday, August 18. It's a virtual event and you can sign-up here.
- The Crafting the Resistance group, which used to meet at the Hub Cafe, will be meeting at Meadowlark in future. It's 9 to 11 am every Saturday.
- There are four new exhibits opening at the Sheldon on Saturday, including one I'm especially excited for that's focused on the history of modern art in America! They all look pretty cool, go check em out.
- Finally, I wanted to flag that Friday's Dustbowl Revival show at the Bourbon, which I included in previous issues of the newsletter, has been cancelled. Fortunately, there are plenty of other shows happening that night!
