What to do this weekend - June 4, 2026

Hi,

Welcome back to This Week In Lincoln. This edition is kind of special because it marks the one-year anniversary of the newsletter! (Well, almost. I actually sent out the first of these "What to do this weekend" posts on June 5 of last year.)

If you'll let me be kind of sappy and self-indulgent for a second, I wanted to say that I'm really proud of the work I've done this past year. I especially loved covering Lincoln Exposed and I feel like the preview of bands I put together was a genuinely useful resource that wouldn't have otherwise existed! (I don't think I mentioned it at the time, but I saw multiple people checking my guide on their phones during the festival; that was really gratifying for my ego!) I've also had fun pushing myself to review films in 2026. Despite the fact that I've worked as a freelance comics and graphic novel critic for years, writing about movies is an entirely new mode for me and not something I've ever attempted — apart from shitposts on Letterboxd, which absolutely don't count. I've found it both surprisingly difficult and rewarding.

Still there's not really much point in doing this kind of local newsletter if the community isn't interested, and the fact that you keep reading my stuff every week keeps me motivated. I've met multiple folks in Lincoln in the past month who already knew me through the newsletter! And that's really really really cool.

So thanks for being here. You're the main reason I do this and I hope you'll continue to stick around!

As usual, I've put together a list of cool things to do this weekend, next week and later this year, all of which you can find below.

Also, there are a bunch of local art exhibits closing soon. So in honor of First Friday, here's a list of stuff to consider checking out tomorrow or in the near future:

A reminder that you can submit things for future "What to do this weekend" posts. I'm trying to fill out the calendar for later this summer, so if you have events in June, July and August, please tell me about them!

You can also just reach out and say hi. My email is tynanstewart@proton.me

I'm also, regrettably, on Letterboxd, Instagram and Bluesky so follow me there or whatever.
