What to do this weekend - February 26, 2026
Plus: A chance to see Oscar-nominated short films and more details about the next No Kings protest.
Hi,
Welcome back to This Week In Lincoln. I've been sick all week, so I apologize if this newsletter has more typos and/or mistakes than usual. But there's lots of cool stuff going on this weekend, next week and later this year.
A few things to know:
- The Ross is screening all of this year's Oscar-nominated short films through March 5. You can buy a festival pass which provides admission to all three slates of shorts (animation, documentaries, and live action) at the Ross box office: $20 general admission | $17 for students, seniors, and military | $13 for Friends of the Ross members and UNL students.
- The Nebraska State Historical Society is providing a bunch of free events on Saturday to celebrate the 159th anniversary of Nebraska's statehood. These include Nebraska-themed bingo, talks about the state's history, crafting activities, and more.
- More details for the third local No Kings event have been announced. It looks like organizers are calling on folks to line the north side of Nebraska Parkway (on Helen Boosalis Bike Trail between 27th and 56th St.) on the morning of Saturday, March 28.
Got an event you want to see featured in next week's event roundup? Submit it here. You can also send feedback, suggestions, compliments, criticism and ideas for things I should write about to tynanstewart@proton.me
Also, please share the newsletter with your friends! Word of mouth and your recommendation really helps this thing grow.
~ Ty
