What to do this weekend - August 14, 2025
My setup at this year's Salt Creek Zine Fest.

Hi,

Welcome to This Week In Lincoln.

I'll be keeping today's newsletter pretty short. (Well, except for the events calendar below; plenty of stuff there!) But look for a separate post that's maybe going out on Sunday, though that could change depending on how much other work I get done today and tomorrow. I've been working on a standalone piece — i.e., not the usual events calendar — about something Lincoln-related that I'm excited to share with you! Stay tuned.

I also met a bunch of awesome people while tabling at the Salt Creek Zine Fest last Saturday! Thanks to everyone who stopped by and looked at my silly little zines or picked up a flyer for the newsletter. You're really cool.

If you didn't make it, you're still pretty cool. Just make sure to swing by the Uni Place Creative District Maker’s Market on Sunday, where I will once again be selling my art. If you say hello, I'll upgrade you to the status of "really cool."

As a preview, here are some (bad) photos of my table from Saturday:

I also had a good time at No Coast's 20th Anniversary game on Saturday. Here's a bad photo of them kicking ass:

And finally, here is a truly abysmal photo of a very friendly cat who followed us around our neighborhood on Sunday. Sorry for not capturing his likeness very well but he kept rolling around on the ground and I am also not good at this:

Thanks for reading! Got an event you want to see featured in next week's newsletter? Submit it here. You can also send feedback, suggestions, compliments, criticism and ideas for things I should write about to tynanstewart@proton.me

P.S. I stumbled across a different "local" newsletter last week that (a) is published by some company in Michigan, (b) almost certainly uses AI, and (c) is overflowing with paid sponsorships disguised as events listing. That kind of shit makes me really angry! Local media has enough problems without vultures swooping in to pretend they're providing a good community service.

So don't read corporate slop, support this newsletter instead! It's completely independent, includes no ads or sponsored content, and is actually written by a human being who lives here and goes to things. This has real benefits! For example: If I screw something up, you can send me an angry email and know for sure that I will read it, feel bad about myself, and try to do better. Wow!

But seriously: If you like what I'm doing, please consider buying a paid sub for $5 a month or $50 for a year.
