Not The Good Life: A far-right ghoul targets Lincoln's libraries
If you don't pay attention to the hideous nightmare realm that is right-wing content online, good for you! Your life must be very pleasant. I do pay attention and it's hell.
The conservative media ecosystem, as it exists in the year of our lord 2026, is best described as an engine of perpetual grievance. If you're on the right and want to make a name for yourself, the most reliable method is to be aggressively cruel to the movement's enemies. Sometimes that means going after journalists or left-of-center politicians. But more often, the targets are queer people and anyone who supports or defends their right to exist. The latter category includes public libraries that dare to stock and display books with gay or trans characters.
Last Sunday, Lincoln's public library system found itself in the crosshairs of this hate movement when Libs of Tik Tok — a deranged social media influencer whose equally deranged followers regularly threaten to bomb hospitals, schools and fitness centers — posted about Gere Library's Pride display.
